Back from WYD

Journal Entry: Mon Jul 21, 2008, 5:25 PM
Well I'm back from WYD, (which was the da bomb!) except I got really sick mid-way through. But not before I saw the Pope in his Popemobile! He was so awesome. I was screaming so loudly.

We had a catechesis for the first three mornings each with a different Bishop, on from Canada, another was a representative from the Pope in Egypt, and the last was a 'baby Bishop', ordained in January, from Middlesbrough. They were each really amazing speakers, and each spoke on different aspects of the Holy Spirit.

We actually had some put in quarantine on the second day because they had a flu the authorities suspected they had caught from the Solomon Islanders, and there was some media blow up about it, because the media thought it must be malaria.

I got sick on the third day and admitted myself into the field hospital they had set up for the epidemic, I was in and out for a couple of days because I kept getting better and then coming up with fevers (I reached about 39 degrees at one point) But I managed to get to the Final Mass with the Pope because one of the brothers drove some of us down.

It was a really beautiful mass and the Pope spoke directly to the youth and asked us to reflect on what we were doing with our lives and how it will affect youth in the future. It went for three hours and we saw 12 young people confirmed by the Pope, 1 from our own diocese.

It was a real adventure and I can’t wait for Madrid 2011!

Holiday

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 3, 2008, 10:19 PM
Well, I'm on holiday at the moment in Sydney. It's a cold and cloudy day...er...evening, and I can't find Dad's footwarmer :'(.

Anyway, it's almost a week until World Youth Week and we've been told where we're staying, a large Catholic High School called Oakhill, and, thank heavens, they have individual showers ;).

We are sharing with the Solomon islander pilgrims and a number of other parishs, so it should be an interesting experience living with people from so many different cultures, and who are complete strangers lol.

One week to go

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 22, 2008, 8:19 PM
OMFG only one week till the end of TAFE. And then I'm going to university next semester. I probably won't have as much time to do much art, not that I've really gotten around to it lately anyway haha.

Also, in a couple of weeks I'm off to World Youth Day. Which is going to be awesome! Apparently on the last day we are going to have a candle vigil with the pope and then we are going to sleep under the stars, which is going to be freezing in Sydney, on a July night lol Because July is Winter in the Southern hemisphere ;)

So sick

Journal Entry: Sun May 25, 2008, 4:00 AM
Oh man, I've been so sick lately. I missed my class on Tuesday at TAFE, which I got half dressed for, and then they had a strike on Thursday, so I missed it for a whole week, not good when we're doing the equalivant of a assignment everyday. I've been woken up two nights in a row by a really irritating cough and a running nose, I didn't even know a running nose could wake you up :eyepopping:

Oh and I've been having an email fight with dad over money, of course, which goes something like blah blah blah blah blah Child Support blah blah blah your mother blah blah blah blah you need to get a job blah blah blah it's really hard for me. I really wouldn't think it's too hard to just support your damn child, I mean he doesn't even pay anything close to what he'd pay through Child Support for me bleehh That feels better actually haha

Anyway, I haven't really felt up to digital inking lately so I've just been uploading my pics, I really want to start putting up some of my writing soon, but I'm trying to work on the structure of my story. I've been reading a screenwriting book by Syd Field, he makes some really good points, unfornuately it takes him forever. He writes like a writer, lots of metaphors bleh. But still, if you manage to find a reasonably priced book, pick it up, he's very good.
